How to set up a greenhouse shed in Stardew Valley

Hello, welcome to my blog post about setting up a greenhouse shed in Stardew.

Greenhouse sheds are like the greenhouse that you unlock at the Community Center (or Joja Mart) except these hold more crops, can have multiple of these, and much more customizable!

The garden pot layout that i use holds 137 crops! compared to the greenhouse 120 crops.

Now, how do you set up one of these? It is actually kinda grindy but it will be all worth it.

You'll need an upgraded shed which costs a lot of wood, stone and money.

Then you need to get your hands on garden pots and deluxe retaining soil.

Garden pots can be acquired by unlocking greenhouse. And Deluxe Retaining Soil is bought at the island trader. (forgot how much though)

And there's more, you will need to get these materials for the 137 garden pots and 137 deluxe retaining soil:

137 Refined Quartzes

274 Clays

411 Fibres

2055 Stones

Now, let's get started by obtaining these materials first.

To get tons of refined quartz, you need to duplicate fire quartz or quartz using the crystallarium.

After you saved the quartz, now you have to smelt a lot of them until you get 137.

Next, let's talk about fiber. To get fiber, the fastest would be planting fiber seeds. You can get this recipe from Linus by doing the community cleanup quest.

Or, you can just farm at the sewer and enter the mutant bug lair.

Let's move on to clay, to get clay fast, i would suggest doing clay farming.

Okay, you see clay spots aren't really randomized, rather they follow a repeating pattern. This can be manipulated to get unlimited clay.

The procedure is really complicated, so I'll just leave a link here on how to clay farm.

I found this guy's video on how to clay farm and i managed to master clay farming.

And lastly, stone. Getting stone is really easy, you can buy it from Robin, or go to the mines and break every single rock and boulders.

After you got all the materials, let's move on to the second step. Craft 137 garden pots and 137 deluxe retaining soil using the materials you got.

Now you may ask, what seeds should i plant? I strongly suggest planting pineapples because they are the most profitable, you can also use hops or just any crops that has regrow able crops like blueberries.

Okay, step 3, first place the garden pots like this.

Then apply the retaining soil to the garden pots.

Now plant the crops.

Then place the remaining garden pots at the sides, apply retaining soil and plant.

Lastly, water all the pots once and you're done!

Finally, we just set up a greenhouse shed! You can also decorate the interior by placing wallpaper, decorations and flooring design. You can also paint the shed at Robin's.

So, what are the pros and cons of a greenhouse shed and the greenhouse?

Greenhouse

Pros:

  • Can plant fruit trees

  • Has spaces for processing machines

  • Can plant ancient fruits

  • Sprinklers can be used instead of deluxe retaining soil, which is much cheaper.

  • Can be accessed in early game (if you do joja route)

Cons:

  • Only one is allowed

  • Limited customizability

  • 120 available crop spaces

  • Is bigger than sheds

Greenhouse shed

Pros:

  • Can have multiple of them

  • You can design your own garden pot layout

  • More customizable

  • More planting space

  • Sheds are much smaller

Cons:

  • Grindy and more expensive to set up

  • Can't have processing machines

  • Can't have sprinklers

  • Can't plant fruit trees

  • No ancient fruits

  • Can be accessed at late game to end game

Well, i think that's about it. I hope this tutorial helps you to get that 100% perfection. Thanks for reading!
